Center for Bioethics and Humanities Journal Club is Oct. 19

The Center for Bioethics and Humanities Journal Club will be held today, Oct. 19 at noon via Zoom. Deirdre Neilen, PhD, will lead the discussion on The Art of Medicine: Can True Reflection and Solidarity Further Beneficence? Discussion will begin with a consideration of Rodin’s famous The Thinker as seen in the Taran article, then move into a case study that focuses on a patient facing enormous challenges (medical, social, financial) in handling his disease. Traditionally, this patient would be labeled difficult or non-compliant, each visit leaving patient and clinician dissatisfied and frustrated. Perhaps by reconsidering what we value in the profession and in our lives, we can rediscover the joy of healing. Register in advance here: https://upstate.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJwkdeCupjgoHdE5KRpWoMFcmPeP9Jl9qJFz. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
