Upstate departments join CSEA event May 16 and 17

Vocera Days are May 16, 23, 29, and June 5

The IMT Mobility and Integrations department will host Vocera Days May 16, 23, 29, and June 5. Vocera team members will be available to answer questions and help with Vocera issues. The Upstate Community is welcome to stop by, play a game, pick up a treat, and meet the team. The schedule is as follows:

Enter contest to win free Calder Cup playoff tickets by May 17

Upstate has 25 pairs of free tickets available for the Calder Cup playoff game with the Syracuse Crunch hosting the Cleveland Monsters Wednesday, May 22 at 7 p.m. at Upstate Medical University Arena. The entry deadline is Friday, May 17 at noon. Winners will be notified by email and will later receive a text message with a pair of digital tickets.

Virtual support line for Epic upgrade is May 18, 19, 20

IMT Training will offer an Epic virtual support line May 18 from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and May 19, 20 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. via Zoom. The virtual support line will assist with the diagnosis and resolution of any issues that may arise during the Epic spring upgrade.

To access the virtual support line, users who are logged into Epic will find the Epic button in the top left corner of the display and select the menu option for virtual support PC or virtual support macOS. For macOS users, it's important to note Zoom permissions need to be enabled from the settings menu under privacy and security, specifically within the screen recording option, before connecting. Once connected, a moderator will link users with a trainer who can assist with screen sharing and troubleshooting. We encourage all users to take advantage of this support system to ensure a smooth and successful transition during the upgrade process.

The Syracuse Workforce Run will be held Thursday, June 6 at 6:45 p.m. on Onondaga Lake Parkway in Liverpool. Registration is $43. Yoga for All is May 24 and 31

Yoga for All will be held May 24 from 2:15 to 2:40 p.m. in Classroom A/B at Community and May 31 from 8 to 8:45 a.m. in the Performance Center at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. Yoga for All is facilitated by Upstate clinicians trained in Trauma Adapted Yoga, a form of yoga based on trauma research, evidence-based yoga therapy, and body-based methods with gentle exercises for self-management of common symptoms and reactions. No experience is necessary, and all are welcome. All upcoming sessions are listed on the Upstate Wellness calendar.

Feeding the Mind, Funding Recovery event is May 31

The Feeding the Mind, Funding Recovery cocktail reception fundraiser to benefit The Eating Disorder Clinic at Upstate will be held Friday, May 31 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Everson Museum of Art. The event will feature live music by Dabble, CNY Central’s Megan Coleman as emcee, full access to the museum, food, a dance performance, and a silent auction. Upstate’s mentoring program seeks staff and nurses to become mentees by May 31

HealthLink on bone health and osteoporosis is June 3

Karen Kemmis, PT, DPT, RN, MS, GCS, CDCES, FADCES, will discuss how exercise can benefit those with or at risk for osteoporosis Monday, June 3 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at HealthLink (6333 State Route 298, E. Syracuse) and via Zoom. Kemmis will discuss exercises that can help improve bone density, posture, and balance, along with how to adjust popular exercise programs to improve safety. Employee Recognition Day is June 6

Upstate’s 40th annual Employee Recognition Day will be held Thursday, June 6 at the OnCenter. The event is invitation only and RSVPs are required by May 17. The program begins at 11 a.m. Shuttle service to the OnCenter will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will depart from Upstate University Hospital and Community. The Upstate Foundation will host an estate planning lunch-and-learn session Friday, June 7 from noon to 12:30 p.m., in room C1076 at Upstate Cancer Center. Moderna Covid-19 trial seeks pediatric patients

Lenord Weiner, MD, and his team seek pediatric patients six months of age to under six years of age who have or have not been previously vaccinated with a Covid vaccine. All participants will receive the Moderna mRNA 1273.815 vaccine. There is no placebo being used in this trial. Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Summit registration open now

Early registration closes July 31

Healthcare practitioners are invited to attend the Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Summit Sept. 19 and 20 at the Upstate Biotech Accelerator. The summit is hosted by the Upstate Global Health Institute and the Central New York Lyme and Tick-Borne Disease Alliance.
