  • Be more visible when walking at night (carry a flashlight & wear reflective clothing or vests) 
  • Cross streets at a designated crosswalk or intersection
  • Walk on a sidewalk or path instead of the road
  • If you must walk on the road, walk on the shoulder facing traffic 
  • Avoid distractions (earbuds, texting, etc.)
  • Avoid things that impair judgement or coordination (drugs or alcohol)
