Cardiac surgeon explains how the TT Maze procedure treats atrial fibrillation

Upstate cardiac surgeon Stephen Waterford, MD, offers a minimally invasive surgery called the TT Maze to treat atrial fibrillation, or A-fib.  The procedure is designed to block the irregular heart rhythm that is a hallmark of A-fib for up to 6 million Americans. A-fib may cause a heart rate that is too fast or an irregular heart rhythm, and it substantially increases a person's risk of stroke. Waterford describes the procedure and explains how he reduces a person's stroke risk at the same time. People with questions about A-fib  may call the Upstate A-fib information line at 315-500-AFIB (2342).
