We see the red kettles during the holiday season, but how many Central New Yorkers are familiar with the services the Salvation Army provides to the community year-round? Maj. David Dean is the Salvation Army's director of operations for Onondaga County. He talks about the original philosophy of "soup, soap and salvation" and how it still holds true today. The Salvation Army has been serving the Syracuse area for more than 125 years. Dean details a variety of programs, including those that deal with health care, nutrition and housing, available for people of all ages, from infants to senior citizens.
