Explaining how and why to wash your hands thoroughly

Does it matter which kind of soap you use? Is it important to dry your hands after washing? Can you use lotion if your hands feel dry? Jarrod Bagatell, MD, the medical director for employee health at Upstate,  answers these questions and more. He makes the point that during the 20 seconds it takes to thoroughly wash your hands, about the same time it takes to sing "Happy Birthday" twice, or some other ditty, you can use that time for a quick relaxation, breathing deeply and resetting your mind.
