Title: Prophylactic IVC Filters: Where is the evidence?

•Describe the absolute indications for IVC filter placement
•Critically evaluate the outcome data of patients treated with IVC filters
•Recognize the potential complications associated with an IVC filter
•Compare the existing guidelines for prophylactic IVC filter placement
•Develop a strategy for dealing with patients at high risk for venous thromboembolism who have a contra-indication to anti-coagulation
