Nursing Department Congress
Purpose
Responsible for oversight, direction, and implementation of nursing department quality, education,
research, recruitment, retention and patient care processes.
Members:
- Chief Nursing Officer
- Chair from each Specialty Nursing Governance Team
- Chair from Special Interest Groups
- Administrative Supervisor Representative
- Dean, College of Nursing
Goals and Outcomes:
- To promote the delivery of quality patient care based on best practice and evidence based data,
focusing on what is best for the patient and family.
- Promotes consistency of nursing standards and policy/procedure implementation across nursing
practice areas.
- Foster learning and stimulate professional growth and knowledge of nursing department staff.
- Promote development of and an active and integrated nursing research program.
- Promote continuous improvement of patient care outcomes.
- Promote innovation and cost effectiveness.
- Promote and reinforce patient safety goal implementation.
- Promote an environment that recruits high level professionals and retains our current workforce.
