Continuing Education

Continuing Education (CE) programs and activities are intended to enrich the nurse's contributions to quality health care and their pursuit of professional career goals.

ICNE (Institute for Continuing Nursing Education)

The ICNE at SUNY Upstate Medical University is an approved provider of Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) by the New Your State Nurses Association (NYSNA) which is accredited as an approver of CNE by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation (ANCC COA).

  • The ICNE provides Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) programs to augment the nurse's knowledge to enhance quality health care and professional development goals. Programs intended to meet job requirements, such as orientations or in-services, are not eligible as an ICNE program or activity.
  • An ICNE Nurse Planner needs to be actively involved in every aspect of planning an event; therefore, any program requests must be made BEFORE any planning or advertising of that program has commenced.
  • Please allow at least six (6) weeks for a program to be planned; including four (4) weeks in advance of the release of any advertising materials.

If you are thinking about planning a CNE program, activity, or event, please contact:
