Additional information on Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Services at University Hospital.

Physical Therapy, a division of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, offers a variety of services for cancer patients of all ages.

We provide restorative services in the inpatient, outpatient and rehabilitation settings at all stages of the cancer process. Following surgery or cancer treatment that results in impairment of functional ability, our treatment goal is to achieve optimal functional independence for the patient.

Treatment may include range of motion, general strengthening, prosthetic training, balance and endurance activities through therapeutic exercise, ambulation and activities. An integral part of physical therapy is patient and family education in to assist with the patient's care and to allow for a safe home environment upon discharge. One of our specialized programs is Lymphedema Management for mastectomy, lumpectomy, Hodgkin's disease and other surgeries or radiation treatment that affects the lymph nodes.

Physical Therapy is located on 2 North at University Hospital and at 550 Harrison Center, Suite 330. For furtherinformation please call (315) 464-2300.
