Refinement of percutaneous image-guided interventions used in the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer
Lung cancer is a devastating disease, and percutaneous image-guided needle biopsy often is useful in making the diagnosis. I am interested in reducing the complications associated with this procedure, and in expanding the indications for it--for example, by incorporating sentinel lymph node mapping. I am also interested in percutaneous image-guided therapeutic interventions such as radiofrequency ablation, used either by itself or in conjunction with other treatment modalities.
Influence of image formation, processing and presentation on observer performance in thoracic imaging
Our group is interested in applying observer performance studies such as AFC and ROC experiments to practical issues of lesion detection in thoracic radiography and CT imaging.
