Emergency Response

      Accidents involving radioactive materials can happen.  It is essential that all persons working with radioactive materials consider the possible accidental situations which can arise and plan an appropriate response in advance.  Please feel free to contact the Radiation Safety Office for assistance (464-6510).

      The main objectives in a response to an accident involving radioactive materials are: (1) to limit the radiation exposure of personnel, and (2) to prevent the spread of radioactive material.  A listing of emergency procedures is found here.

Radiation Emergency Response

     If an emergency occurs during working hours, call the work number, 464-6510.  The same number may be used to access the 24-hour pager number (Radiation Safety Officer on-call) for assistance in an emergency involving radiation and radioactive materials.
