R.H. Hutchings Psychiatric Center
The
Hutchings Psychiatric Center is a 136-bed comprehensive community mental
health center operated by the New York State Office of Mental Health.
Hutchings offers extensive inpatient, outpatient, adolescent, child, geriatric,
intensive rehabilitation, and other specialized treatment services. This
primary affiliate adjoins the SUNY Upstate Medical University Department
of Psychiatry.
Residents spend six months during the PGY-1 and 2 years learning to
evaluate and treat severely ill adults and children during their inpatient
child, geriatric, and community psychiatry rotations. PGY-4 electives
are available in psychosocial rehabilitation.
