Minimum Salary for New Postdocs

We are instituting a minimum salary of $50,835 for all new FTE postdoc positions. 

Candidate Identified

  1. Is a Visa needed?
    Please contact Patty Brecht in Human Resources. If J-1 visa is needed, please contact Mandy Brennan in Graduate Medical Education. The National Postdoctoral Association offers a quick guide for visas.

  2. Prepare F-1 form.
    Use this link to the Department of Human Resources Hiring Manager's Login page to create an F-1 form. Please include a copy of the candidate's C.V. with the F-1. (Note: Waiver of Search forms are not needed for a Postdoctoral Associate position.)

  3. Obtain necessary signatures.
    F1 forms for postdoctoral associates must have the following approval signatures:
    • For institutionally-funded research accounts, the F-1 form must be approved by
      • the Principal Investigator
      • the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies (Weiskotten Hall 3122, 464-4538)
      • the Dean of the College of Medicine (Weiskotten Hall 1256 WH, 464-9720)
    • For externally-funded research accounts, the F-1 form must be approved by:
      • the Principal Investigator or Department Chair
      • the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies (Weiskotten Hall 3122, 464-4538)
    • For state accounts, the F-1 form must be approved by:
      • the Principal Investigator
      • the Dean of the College of Graduate Studies (Weiskotten Hall 3122, 464-4538)
      • the Dean of the College of Medicine (Weiskotten Hall 1256 WH, 464-9720)

  4. Submit the F-1 form to Human Resources.

  5. Human Resources will contact you and the candidate to appoint to Payroll.

  6. It is highly recommended that reference letters or verbal references are obtained on Post Doc candidates.

  7. If Research Foundation appointment, complete the RF Appointment Form. Contact Research Payroll for form.

Need to Recruit Candidate

  4. Submit F1 to Human Resources.

  5. Human Resources will post position on website and work with PI to determine appropriate recruitment sources.

  6. Once a candidate is selected, contact Human Resources.

  7. It is highly recommended that reference letters or verbal references are obtained on Post Doc candidates.
