The Upstate University Community Campus Inpatient Psychiatric Unit consists of 25 beds and admits individuals 18 years of age and older with various psychiatric diagnoses. Patients are admitted on both voluntary and involuntary status and through various referral sources.

Patients are offered an individualized interdisciplinary plan of care consisting of individual and group psychotherapies, medications, electroconvulsive therapy with a strong emphasis on skill development through psycho-educational programming. Other services provided are Pastoral care, smoking cessation, health and fitness, medication management, and other group therapies.

Each patient works with the interdisciplinary team to increase skills and prevent relapse. The professional team consists of psychiatrists, social workers, psychiatric nurse practitioners, medical nurse practitioners, certified therapeutic recreation specialists, occupational therapists and mental health therapy aides.

The unit is highly integrated with all disciplines working together through a shared governance model to ensure quality care to all patients.
