"Clinical systems" refers to the computerized and electronic handling of documentation, medication procurement, and medication administration. Upstate University Hospital utilizes three systems to accomplish these nursing tasks:
- Pyxis: electronic medication procurement
- MAK: computerized medication administration
When a student/instructor presents at the payroll window in the lobby of Jacobsen Hall to receive a non-employee ID badge, the Pyxis and MAK systems are triggered to generate access codes for the student/instructor. Students are also activated in other systems, however, instructors must submit an IMT Security Access Request Form.
Once clinical systems codes are generated and activated, the codes will be delivered to the clinical group during their clinical rotations. It is required that all students and instructors who are new to this institution attend a clinical systems training. To attend or schedule a training, contact:
