CNYMPH student project empowers Syracuse refugees

Rozlynn Jakes-Johnson, a student in Upstate Medical University's Master of Public Health program, introduces refugees who participated in her PhotoVoice project.  Armed with cameras, the refugees, most living on the North Side of Syracuse, took photos aimed at capturing three elements in their daily lives--community, connection and belonging.  The photographers then offered their views on why the images they took held such importance in their lives. The photos were recently displayed at the Northside CYO in Syracuse.
