Donna Stoner has been named director of Volunteer Initiatives at University Hospital, a newly organized department that includes the hospital’s Volunteer Services, Office of Spiritual Care and Advocates for Upstate Medical University.

Most recently she was director of Volunteer Services at Crouse Hospital, where she maintained an intergenerational hospital volunteer program resulting in 40,000 volunteer hours per year. Stoner has also held leadership positions for the Small Business Council of the Greater Syracuse Chamber of Commerce.

Her past and present community service is extensive and includes volunteer leadership positions with the InterReligious Council of CNY, the United Way, Vera House, Child and Family Services and the Thursday Morning Roundtable. She also served as a board member and a member of the 2001 Conference Planning Committee for the New York State Directors of Volunteer Services.

Stoner earned a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University (1967) and completed the Institute for Organizational Management program, a six-year summer program sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the University of Delaware (1991).
