SUNY Upstate's Irene Sills, M.D., elected to American Academy of Pediatrics panel

SYRACUSE, N.Y.— Irene Sills, M.D., professor of pediatrics at SUNY Upstate Medical University, has been elected to the executive committee of the Endocrine Section of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). Sills will serve a six-year term through 2014.

Sills' election to the executive committee recognizes her as one of the leading pediatric endocrinologists in the nation. As a member of the executive committee, Sills will review documents and policies from health organizations seeking AAP approval and endorsement. In addition, Sills may serve as an AAP liaison with other organizations and task forces to address issues related to pediatric endocrinology.

Sills specializes in pediatric endocrinology and treats children, adolescents and young adults at the Joslin Diabetes Center. Her clinical interests include short stature/growth failure, Turner syndrome, pediatric gynecology, congenital adrenal hyperplasia, and transsexual adolescents and children. She earned a medical degree from New York University in 1976 and completed an internship and residency at SUNY Upstate in 1977 and 1978, respectively. Sills lives in Syracuse.
