University Hospital hosts national exhibition of award-winning pediatric patient photos
SYRACUSE, N.Y. — A prize-winning University Hospital photograph depicting a young burn survivor receiving a quiet hug from a volunteer is among the 50 images featured in a special children’s hospital photo exhibition on display at University Hospital through June 1. The exhibition, located in the hospital’s lobby, is sponsored by National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI).
The winning photograph, titled “A Healing Hand,” was selected from more than 200 entries from hospitals across the country as well as four additional University Hospital are featured in the traveling 2007 Children’s Hospitals Photo Exhibit that opened earlier this year in San Francisco.
“The Children’s Hospitals Photo Exhibit solicits photo entries from NACHRI members that best illustrate a theme,” said Sallie Strang, who served as a judge and is editor of NACHRI’s publication Children’s Hospitals Today. “In 2007, the theme is ?Focus on Quality.’ We chose what we felt were the best 50 photographs that reflect this theme.”
The award-winning photo was taken by Chittenango photographer Susan Kahn. Other images in the exhibit representing University Hospital were taken by William Mueller and Robert Carroll.
University Hospital, which will open the Golisano Children’s Hospital in 2009, is a member of NACHRI.
