Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital celebrates first yearPediatric admissions at Upstate rose 39 percent in the first year of operation of the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. In addition, the children’s hospital has helped recruitment efforts, attracting numerous pediatric specialists to Syracuse, including two pediatric surgeons who joined the hospital this month.

A special cookie commemorates the first birthday of the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital.A special cookie commemorates the first birthday of the Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital. A celebration was held at the hospital today. Since the children's hospital opened Sept. 23, 2009, pediatric admissions have soared 39 percent with patients being cared for from 42 counties. Officials say the opening of the hospital has helped recruit numerous pediatric specialists, including pediatric surgeons and immonologists.

Wellner, a resident of Central New York, designed dinnerware before turning to painting. Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital will celebrate its first anniversary this month.
