Are you looking for a way to give back to your alma mater? Considering a volunteer role or endowing a scholarship? The Upstate Medical Alumni Association would love to hear back from you. Ways to Get Involved

  • Join the Alumni Association Board of Directors
    This governing body creates policy, develops programs, and advocates for alumni and students on-and off-campus. Nominations are accepted throughout the academic year, with final selections made in May. Visit out current Board of Directors web page.

  • Volunteer as a dinner chair for your Class Reunion
    Alumni are needed to form Class Reunion committees. These volunteers help to plan reunion events, encourage participation in reunion class gifts, contact classmates and assist with other details for Reunion Weekend. Visit our Reunion Weekend website.

  • Join our Career Advisory Network
    The Medical Alumni Association's Career Advisory Network gives students the opportunity to get in touch with alumni and benefit from their experience, knowledge and wisdom. This is a wonderful opportunity to mentor a student about a specialty or residency program that they may want to pursue. It also provides alumni the opportunity to get in touch with each other.   • Join the Help our Students Travel program (HOST)
    The Medical Alumni Association has recently developed a program that will connect MSIV students with alumni volunteers during the MSIV residency interview process, and later connects recently graduated students with members of their new medical residency community. Alumni volunteers, throughout the United States, provide our students with a free place to stay, as well as advice based on personal experience about residency training and the medical center and community in which they are interviewing.   • Host an Upstate Regional Event in your area
    The Alumni Association is hitting the road in 2010 and 2011. If you are interested in hosting a reception in your area for a gathering of local Upstate family, parents, and friends please contact the Alumni Association office or fill out our Keep in Touch/Get Involved form to let us know.

  • Join our Parent and Family Association (PFA)
    Are you a parent of a child currently enrolled in the College of Medicine at Upstate Medical University? The PFA is a perfect opportunity to keep parents informed about what is happening in their students' lives and to afford them the opportunity to ensure continuation of the tradition of excellence in medical education for today's students and those who will follow.   • Annual Phonathon
    Are you interested in connecting with old friends/classmates? A perfect opportunity presents itself by volunteering for our annual Phonathon which takes place every February. Visit our Phonathon web page.

  • Alumni Journal
    Do you have an idea for a featured story to be published in the Upstate Alumni Journal? Or would you like let your fellow classmates know what you have been doing since graduation through the Journal's class notes section? Please go to our Keep In Touch/Get Involved form and send us a note.

  • Endowing a scholarship or award
    The Upstate Medical Alumni Foundation, under the direction of the Executive Director, and with the consent and guidance of the Board of Directors, is charged with the responsibility for all scholarships on behalf of the College of Medicine. Endowments are needed to finance scholarships to deserving students. If you have thought about this in the past, now is the time to act as tuition for New York State residents is now $22,800. Seventy-seven percent of our College of Medicine students shoulder an average annual debt of $33,707 resulting in a total debt load of nearly $140,000 upon graduation.   • Legacy Society
    Are you interested or have you provided for a gift to the College of Medicine in your estate plans? If so, the Alumni Association would love to properly acknowledge you through our Legacy Society. Please visit our Legacy Society to learn more.

  • Who do you admire?
    Each year the Medical Alumni Association presents three awards during Reunion weekend – Distinguished Alumnus, Outstanding Young Alumnus and our Humanitarian Award recipient.
