LEAP - FAQ

What is LEAP?

  • Most resources purchased by the library are licensed to Upstate Medical users only and are therefore not accessible from off-campus. The Library Enhanced Access Program (LEAP) allows persons affiliated with Upstate Medical to log in and use the library resources from anywhere an internet connection is available. See below for log in information.

Who can have a LEAP account?

  • Upstate students, faculty, staff, residents and fellows
  • Volunteer faculty
  • VA physicians with dual appointments (Upstate/VA)
  • Upstate non-matriculated students

If you have any questions about LEAP eligibility, please contact us at 464-4581 or e-mail us.

How do you get a LEAP account?

  • Anyone with a Novell Nework (and Groupwise) account has a LEAP account automatically
  • All others must sign up with the library. This can be done via a form on the web - http://www.upstate.edu/library/access/leap_account.php or via a paper form which can be obtained at the Library Services Desk.

How do you log in?

Faculty/Staff/Students/Residents/Fellows with Novell accounts log with your Network ID.

  • Your Novell Network ID is usually the same as your GroupWise log in. If you have changed your GroupWise password, this did not change your Novell Network ID password (and vice versa).
    • If you do not know your Novell Network ID password, please call the IMT Help Desk at 464-4115 to have it reset. The library cannot reset this for you.

Other user (volunteer faculty, VA with dual appointment, etc.) accounts are set up and maintained by the library.

Who do I call for any other problems or questions concerning LEAP?
