The Institute for Human Performance is the newest addition to the campus of the State University of New York Upstate Medical University in Syracuse—one of only 125 academic medical centers in the United States. Academic medical centers, which are built around medical schools and teaching hospitals, like Upstate's University Hospital, lead the nation in conducting medical research, educating the highest levels of health professionals and providing the most complex care to patients.
