Carol Travers

Carol Travers joined Upstate’s Human Resources Department 13 years ago as a Benefits Enrollment Specialist and assistant to the Benefits Manager. In her role, Carol is responsible for all of the benefits orientation and enrollment process for Research Foundation employees and part for State represented employees. In addition, she is responsible for faculty enrollments, Research Foundation retirements, State service and disability retirements, along with long-term disability and supplemental retirement programs.

When asked what she likes most about her position and Upstate, Carol replied,” Upstate is a great place to work at. There are so many things taking place here and my fellow colleagues are great to work with.  I especially enjoy getting to meet employees and faculty at different stages of their career. I meet them when they sign on, see them along their career and meet with them again when they are ready to retire.”

In her spare time, Carol enjoys spending time with her husband Tom of 35 years and her two adorable dogs Ziggy and Chloe, who she considers her kids.  She’s into health and fitness and works-out at the gym 2-3 times per week. Carol also enjoys collecting cook books from different areas she has visited, as well as antique pins from estate sales. When asked what she would like others to know about her, she replied, “I’m an early riser and enjoy getting to work early. It allows me to organize myself and plan my day. It also provides employees an opportunity to meet with me at the beginning or end of their shift.  I’m also a very passionate and dedicated to my role here at Upstate.  If I can go home knowing I helped a person it makes my day.”

Carol, thank you for your many contributions to the Human Resources Department and Upstate. Your dedication to ensuring our employees’ and faculty members’ on-boarding and benefits enrollment process is a smooth transition is greatly appreciated.
