September 2007—Rosemary Oliva
Rosemary Oliva began her career at Upstate 35 years ago. In her current role as Assistant Administrator for the Department of Neurology, she is responsible for coordinating faculty recruitment, coordinating special projects, moves, purchasing, and overseeing daily activities for the department and Dr. Jeremy Shefner. Rosemary is also involved in preparing the departmental brochures for Marketing which focus on ALS, Epilepsy and Neuropathology. When asked what she likes most about her job, Rosemary responded, “I’m a people person and enjoy working with the people in the Department of Neurology and throughout Upstate.” Rosemary also stated that it has been a pleasure to work for different departmental chairs over the years.
Outside of work, Rosemary enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons. In addition, Rosemary enjoys taking trips, especially to Las Vegas to see the shows, and reading a variety of different types of books. Rosemary is currently reading “Character is Destiny” by John McCain. When we asked what she would like people to know about her, Rosemary replied, “I’m co-chair for this year’s Upstate’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk team on Sunday, September 30, 2007.” The 2006 walk had over 4,000 participants and Rosemary believes that Upstate will have a large presence again this year.
Rosemary, thank your 35 years of dedicated service to Upstate and we wish you much success in this year’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk.
