Andy Holtsbery’s career at Upstate began approximately 23 years ago when he joined the Budget Office in the Finance Department as a student assistant. With a background in Computer Programming, Andy transitioned from the Department of Finance to Clinical Practice Analysis & Support in 1994. In his current role as a Senior Programmer/Analyst, Andy performs a variety of functions that help support University Hospital’s quality of care objectives. Some of these tasks include the creation of databases for nursing and clinical quality grids that fall within the hospital's five pillars of operation, gathering data from different systems such as SoftMed, as well as creating applications that track data to be utilized for process and quality improvement purposes. When asked what he enjoys most about working at Upstate, Andy replied, “Helping support our mission through the work I do, as well as knowing that I can have an impact on quality improvement is very rewarding to me. Upstate is the largest employer in the area and there is so much taking place here. It’s very exciting to see the direction we are moving towards.”
Outside of work, Andy enjoys spending time with his wife, nieces and nephew. He and his wife are currently working on remodeling their home. When asked what he would like people to know about him, Andy responded, “I’m proud of the work I do, especially as it relates to improving our outcomes and supporting our organization's mission. There is so much taking place at Upstate and it’s visible to see how our image is changing.”
