May 2007—Janice Ross
Janice has served in a multitude of administrative roles during her 25+ years of employment. Her career began in Psychiatry, and as she prepares to retire on June 22nd, she is currently utilizing her vast expertise as the Hospital Administrator for Construction and Shared Services. When asked what she enjoyed most about her work she replied that she has enjoyed the variety of projects that she has gotten to work on and the different people she has had the pleasure of working with. Her interests outside of work include playing tennis and golf, and being a member of a local book club where she enjoys reading books from some of her favorite authors such as J.D. Robb and James Patterson. Upon retiring, Janice will moving to Durham, NC to join her husband, Haynes, who has already relocated, and spending time with her daughters. When asked about how she would like her colleagues to remember her, she replied that she would like to be recalled as an effective administrator who puts patients first; who always tried to support and develop staff; and who continually promoted University Hospital as a valuable community resource.
Janice, you will be remembered for all your many contributions, your spirit and energy, and your enthusiasm for all that you do. On behalf of the entire University community, we wish you health and happiness as you embark on a new journey and extend our heartfelt gratitude for the “Upstate face” you brought to your many roles with the University.
