About the College

The College of Graduate Studies educates students through its biomedical science programs to be discoverers, leaders, and innovators in biomedical research.

Biomedical Sciences Program

The Biomedical Sciences Program for Ph.D. students provides you with maximum choice in selecting a research specialization and gives you up to a full year before making the crucial decision as to the topic and mentor for your thesis research. During the first year, you rotate through three labs, choosing from a variety of well-funded labs in leading-edge research areas.

To help you select your rotations, faculty members from each department program take an afternoon early in the first semester to present the research carried on in the program. After successful completion of your lab rotations and a first-year core curriculum taught by faculty from throughout the college, you select your dissertation mentor and transition into the appropriate degree-granting program.

The College of Graduate Studies also awards M.S. degrees and M.D./Ph.D. degrees.
