The services we provide are threefold:
- Medical Management
- Facilitate medical management including chelation in home communities with support and consultation
- Monthly review of patients with elevated blood lead levels (>20 mcg/dl) with participating county Health Departments
- Education—Educational outreach to professional and community organizations
- Primary Prevention—Support of primary prevention activities at the local, county and state levels
The Resource Center at University Hospital is one of three centers in New York State providing expertise in medical management of children and pregnant women with elevated blood lead levels. The service area, 31 counties, extends from Central New York to the northern and eastern boundaries of the state.
