RESEARCH ABSTRACT
Dr. Ann Botash is a distinguished child abuse pediatrician and educator. She is an expert in child abuse evaluation and treatment, and the founder and Director of the New York State Child Abuse Medical Provider (CHAMP) program. As a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital, she holds multiple roles including Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Faculty Development in the Norton College of Medicine, Vice Chair for Education in Pediatrics, Division Director of Child Abuse Pediatrics, and Co-Medical Director of the McMahonRyan Child Advocacy Center.
With a passion for education, she regularly teaches and has extensive experience testifying in child abuse trials. Dr. Botash played a pivotal role in establishing the McMahon Ryan Child Advocacy Center in 1998 and continues to provide patient care there. She has made significant contributions to medical and non-medical literature and has served as the principal investigator for multiple grants. She is past-President of the Ray E. Helfer Society, and honorary society of child abuse physicians. Dr. Botash's remarkable achievements have been recognized with numerous national and local awards, including an Upstate President’s award for teaching and SUNY Chancellor’s award for teaching. She was awarded the 2022 Certificate of Special Recognition for Contributions in Pediatric Education from the American Academy of Pediatrics.
