Dr. Beatty is an Associate Professor of Family Medicine. He joined the Department as an Education Specialist in 1983. He is currently Senior Associate Director of Predoctoral Education through which he provides oversight for the departments medical student programs. As Associate Director of the RMED program, he is responsible for the day-to-day administration and program evaluation. He is also Director of the Central Region Office of the New York State AHEC System, which collaborates with two community based Area Health Education Centers in the 19 county Central Region. From July 1998 through November 1999 he served as Interim Assistant Dean for Continuing Medical Education for the College of Medicine. For many years he has been the chief grant writer for the Department's federal Predoctoral Education and Faculty Development grant applications. He represents the Department of Family Medicine on the Educational Policies Committee, and is a member of its Subcommittee on Faculty Development. He interviews approximately 25 medical school applicants each year, supervises work-study medical students, and serves on the Department's Appointments and Promotions Committee.
