Overview

The Central Region Office of the NYS AHEC System is situated in the Department of Family Medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University. The Central Region Office serves primary functions:

  1. To support educational programs at SUNY Upstate that strengthen the regional health work force, including the Rural Medical Education Program (RMED) and the Family Medicine Clerkship
  2. To serve as a liason between SUNY Upstate Medical University and with leaders in healthcare provision, education, and policy-making in the Central NY Region; and
  3. <<li>To act as a coordinating office and liason between the regional AHEC offices located in Potsdam (the Northern AHEC, or NAHEC) and Cortland (the Central New York AHEC, or CNYAHEC), New York.
