An energized and responsive leadership team is working towards growth and promoting excellence in all we do. Dr. David Smith, President since 2006, has taken a leadership role in New York State, and instituted the "Engaging Excellence" initiative on campus. This process is bringing together diverse and unique voices from all parts of campus life to plan for the future.

Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Steven Scheinman, is piloting our efforts to face the many challenges of academic medicine while reaping its rewards.

At SUNY Upstate Medical University, the faculty is actively involved in discussion and decisions at all levels. A strong and informed faculty governance system exists to link faculty concerns and ideas to the decision-making process.
