Our Colleges

There are four colleges on the SUNY Upstate campus, educating tomorrow's nurses, doctors, health professionals and biomedical scientists:

The Clinical Setting

SUNY Upstate's teaching hospital is a 350-bed, Level I trauma and burn center serving a 17-county area. Our specialists perform open heart surgery on infants just hours old, destroy previously inoperable brain tumors, repair traumatic injuries, offer the newest medical treatments, and discover tomorrow's cures.

In the past ten years, we have spent $150 million to improve our campus by building the Institute for Human Performance, the Health Sciences Library (one of the most modern medical libraries in the country) the East Wing of University Hospital and the new Human Anatomy Lab.We have also modernized Weiskotten Hall, our main teaching site. The new Setnor Academic Building opened in 2007. Also, the region's first children's hospital will open on the SUNY Upstate campus in 2009.

Our outstanding faculty members are the key to our outstanding education. Devoted to students, they provide a stimulating learning experience and serve as mentors long after graduation. Most hold the highest degrees granted in their fields and many lead national professional organizations.
