How To Apply—FAQs
Applications are accepted via ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) only. We do not accept paper applications. For more information on how to apply via ERAS, please visit the ERAS 2010 for Residency Applicants . We will participate in the NRMP (National Resident Matching Program) .
Application Deadline: All application information should be submitted by December.
What qualifications do I need to apply?
A candidate is selected for our fellowship based on a number of factors. These include, but are not limited to: performance on standardized test; grades and transcripts, letters of recommendation; degree of research experience; personal statements; academic interests; completion of Internal Medicine Residency training at least “Board Eligible” status; and interview performance.
Does your program accept International Medical Graduates (IMG's)?
We accept international medical graduates if they have ECFMG certification; and they have done their residency in an ACGME accredited program.
What visa type is offered for PGY-1 residents?
We will sponsor J1 Visa, Permanent Resident, and EAD. (H1B Visa's will not be sponsored.)
Do you sponsor H-1 visa?
No we do not. As mentioned previously, we will only sponsor J-1 visa.
Do you offer any Observership or Externship opportunities at your institution?
Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate outside learners within the Department of Medicine.
When are interviews scheduled?
From January through March.
The Fellowship Selection Committee will extend interview invitations only after reviewing completed applications. For an application to be considered complete the following items must be included: Application, CV, personal statement, MSPE, medical school transcript, USMLE Steps 1, 2 and 3 scores, at least 3 letters of recommendation. We will contact interviewing candidates (by email) as early as possible to permit suitable travel planning.
What is your policy on rescheduling a previously scheduled interview?
We ask that applicants take special care in picking their interview dates, in order to avoid having to request a change.
When should I contact you to check the status of my application?
Due to the volume of applicants, only those selected for interview will be contacted.
