Personal

Student Counseling Center largely deals with the educational and personal well being of students, offering individual, group, couples, and family counseling.

Students commonly come to the program to deal with a variety of concerns including:
  • Difficulty with academic work
  • Relationship problems, self-esteem concerns
  • Substance abuse issues
  • Problems with depression
  • Burnout
  • Sexual Assault and Rape PDF document text
Through the Student Counseling Center, students can receive counseling, crisis intervention, ongoing psychotherapy, and psychiatric medication.

Religious/Spiritual

Center for Spiritual Care at University HospitalChaplains for the major faiths work closely with the faculty and students at Upstate Medical University, complementing the educational program and providing friendly guidance.

The Cooperative Campus Ministries Committee is composed of SUNY Upstate Medical University students, faculty, administrators, and the University Hospital Chaplains as well as clergy and concerned lay people from the Syracuse community. The Committee meets monthly to support programs which:
  • Identify and meet the spiritual needs of the SUNY Upstate Medical University
  • Serve as a connecting link to the larger religious community to find ways it can help the SUNY Upstate Medical University
  • Represent the spiritual needs of patients and their families to faculty, students, and staff in the College of Medicine and University Hospital
  • Make the religious community of Syracuse more aware of the activities of the faculty, staff, and students of the Health Science Center.
