Physicians for Human Rights

Physicians for Human Rights (PHR) is a national organization dedicated to human rights advocacy in all areas including health care. The Upstate chapter is dedicated to education, advocacy and service. The primary focus is the Social Medicine elective, open to all students, which pairs students with patient partners in order to improve the patients' care and broaden the students' understanding of living with chronic disease. PHR also sponsors lectures each semester on issues of human rights, both locally and globally.
