About the Speaker

Diane J. Skiba, PhD, FAAN, FACMIDiane J. Skiba, PhD, FAAN, FACMI  is Professor and Coordinator of Healthcare Informatics at the University of Colorado Denver. She is an international leader committed to the preparation of health care professionals with the necessary knowledge and skills to practice in a technology-rich health care environment. While not a health care professional, Dr. Skiba is an honorary fellow of the American Academy of Nursing and an honorary member of Sigma Theta Tau. She is an elected fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics. She was the Co-Chair of the Tiger Initiative (2005-2006) and served as a member of the National Advisory Council on Nursing Education and Practice that advises the Secretary of the U.S. DHHS and the U.S. Congress on policy issues related to the Title VIII programs administered by the HRSA Bureau of Health Professions Division of Nursing.  She is a frequent presenter on mobile health topics, social media use in healthcare and education, and consumer engagement through technology.
