Wellspring Breast Center is accredited by the American College of Radiology and maintains strong performance with the MQSA standards under the FDA. Wellspring is fully staffed with mammography certified technologists, dedicated RNs, and mammography-certified radiologists. Surgeons are available for consultations. Routine screening and diagnostic mammograms, diagnostic breast ultrasound and stereotactic, and ultrasound guided biopsies are performed daily at the Breast Center.
Wellspring is a unique, comprehensive breast care center, offering women in Central New York access to some of the area's leading specialists. By combining physical, psychological and educational services in a single location, Wellspring is designed to meet all of your needs. Here, you are the focus of everything we do. You are the decision maker in every step of the process.
Comprehensive breast care is provided at Wellspring Breast Center, a unique facility with a tranquil environment located in the Physicians Office Building South. There are consult rooms, a patient conference room, two breast ultrasound exam rooms, biopsy facilities, and two diagnostic mammography rooms. The waiting areas are spacious and comfortable. Comfortable cloth robes, herbal teas and aromatherapy all add to the overall atmosphere.
A breast specialist team is available to provide examinations, diagnostic testing and treatment as needed. If a biopsy is necessary, the team will provide options, immediate scheduling and support throughout the entire process. We strive to provide peace of mind by bringing knowledgeable specialists and the latest technology together in one location.
The Wellspring Breast Center offers the following services:
- Mammography
Mammography is the most basic breast care need for prevention and early detection, especially in women over 40. The American Cancer Society recommends mammograms once a year, starting at 40, to assure optimal breast health. Wellspring provides yearly screening and diagnostic examinations. Our staff is specifically trained and certified in breast imaging. - Surgical Consults
If you do not have a surgeon, our nurse case manager can facilitate a surgical follow up. - Breast Ultrasound
This test, using sound waves instead of x-rays, is sometimes performed to acquire additional information for a diagnosis. - Breast Biopsies
Using either ultrasound or stereotactic guidance, this is a simple, non-operative alternative to sample abnormalities found on breast imaging. - Nurse Case Managers
They are here to answer your questions and guide you through your breast care treatment. - "Checkmate" ImageChecker
The R2 Imagechecker provides a computer aided second look at your mammography examination. The R2 analyzes your digital images. This information is used to determine, and in many cases improve, overall management and treatment of breast disease. At the Wellspring Breast Center we make it a more comfortable experience. If you are experiencing a problem, you will receive your results promptly,* so you don't have to spend hours—or days—wondering about the outcome. Our technologists are board certified in mammography and the Wellspring facility consistently demonstrates strong performance on its FDA Mammography Quality Standards Act inspections. If there is a condition that requires follow-up, we will work with you through the next steps, whatever you decide they should be. What's more, we'll provide you with access to some of the area's leading specialists so you can make more informed decisions about your care.
* For diagnostic mammograms, results are provided immediately. Screening mammogram results are available after comparing films with prior films and computer-digitized analyses. Please bring your most recent mammogram films (or arrange for them to be sent to Wellspring) so results can be reported promptly.
Hours: 7:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. weekdays. Additionally, we are open the second Saturday of each month from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. for Screening Mammography only. Appointments may be made by calling the Outpatient Scheduling Office at (315) 492-5702.
