Syracuse Campus Third-Year Choice
All College of Medicine students spend their first two years on the Upstate campus in Syracuse.
At the start of the third year, one-quarter of the class moves 70 miles south to the Binghamton Clinical Campus. The rest of the class remains in Syracuse and completes clinical education at Upstate's teaching hospital, University Hospital, and its clinical affiliates. Applicants indicate their campus preference within two weeks of the admissions interview, and are assigned to a clinical campus upon acceptance to the College of Medicine.
University Hospital
University Hospital is a regional leader in complex care, offering hundreds of specialty services. Many of our outstanding programs are unique to Central New York, drawing patients from other states and countries.
Clinical Affiliates
Upstate's Syracuse campus is within walking distance of many affiliated health care facilities including Crouse Hospital, the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, Hutchings Psychiatric Center and Rosewood Heights Health Center. Community General Hospital and St. Joseph's Hospital Health Center, home of Upstate's residency program in family medicine, are a few minutes' drive from campus.
