Student Services Bookstore
The medical bookstore, located in the lobby of the Campus Activities Building and run by Barnes and Noble, carries a wide selection of medical, nursing and health-related titles. The bookstore also carries computer software and supplies, medical equipment and supplies, school supplies, lab jackets and coats, t-shirts, greeting cards and snacks.
Bursar
The Bursar collects tuition, residence hall rent and damage fees, registration deposits, and library fines and fees. The Bursar also disperses student loans, scholarships and other financial aid.
Campus Activities
The Campus Activities Office oversees all student-oriented programs and activities such as student clubs and organizations, special events and student orientation.
Campus Security
Upstate is concerned about the safety and welfare of the entire campus community, and is committed to providing a safe and secure environment. The campus Public Safety Department is always open and a trained dispatcher is always on call to respond to emergency calls. Public Safety officers maintain constant patrol by vehicle and on foot, including regular checks of all campus buildings. An escort service is available to any on-campus location. Emergency telephones and call boxes are located throughout campus. Identification cards are worn by students, faculty and staff at all times.
Career Development Center
The Career Development Center offers career development and planning services to undergraduate students and alumni including resume writing, cover letter writing and interviewing techniques. The Career Development Center also provides a list of job openings from hospitals throughout the country and maintains a library of career-related books and materials.
Child Care Center
Upstate's Child Care Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, placing it among the top five percent of child care centers nationwide.
The Child Care Center offers on-campus daytime care for the children of students and employees. The Child Care Center accepts 66 children ages eight weeks to five years, and is open from 6:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding eight major holidays. Tuition is based on income. The Child Care Center's first priority is to care for the children of students and reserves spaces for their use.

Financial Aid
The Office of Financial Aid helps students pay for medical school by administering loan, scholarship, grant and part-time employment programs. Details about eligibility requirements and application procedures can be found in Upstate's Financial Aid Handbook and on page 19 of this brochure. Financial Aid staff also help students with personal budgeting, student loan repayment and debt management.
Multicultural Resources
Upstate is committed to improving diversity in health care by increasing the number of historically underrepresented minority students admitted to and graduating from our programs. The Office of Multicultural Resources offers pre-admission advisement, counseling and additional help and information to students.
Registrar
The Registrar is responsible for class schedules, registration, course selection, adds/drops, grades, transcripts, certifications, veteran's affairs and academic records.
Residential Life
The Office of Residential Life provides information about on-campus living and maintains a list of off-campus rooms, apartments, duplexes and houses. (Clark Tower, Upstate's Residence Hall)
Student Affairs
Student Affairs offers academic and career advisement, counseling, transfer assistance, letters of recommendation, assistance to disabled students and international students, and help with students' problems and concerns not handled by other offices.
Student Counseling Service
The Student Counseling Service provides free academic and emotional support to students, spouses and their families including individual,
couple and family therapy; vocational counseling; academic/study skills support; drug/alcohol education and counseling; group counseling; and long-term psychotherapy.
The Student Counseling Office is located in the Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Building.
Student Health Service
The Student Health Service provides primary care for acute conditions, illnesses and injuries to all students. It does not include hospitalization, care for chronic conditions or emergency room care away from University Hospital. All students doing clinical course work must have private health insurance at the time of registration.
