Year Three: Binghamton

Third-year students on the Binghamton Clinical Campus are assigned to required clerkships in:

  • Internal Medicine
  • Surgery
  • Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Psychiatry
  • Pediatrics
  • Neuroscience
  • ENT/Ophthalmology

Prevention, Radiology and Bioethics are integrated throughout the third-year curriculum.

In the Practice of Medicine III course, which is offered concurrently with the major clerkships, students discuss ethical and professional issues and continue to practice communication skills to assist in developing better patient-doctor relationships.

In the yearlong Primary Care Program, Binghamton students are assigned to a primary care physician's office and spend one half-day each week at that office. This program, comparable to the four-week Family Medicine clerkship in Syracuse, is designed to give students a longitudinal experience in primary care.
