Clinical Facilities

The administrative home of the Binghamton Campus is in the Garvin Building on a hill with panoramic views on the east side of Binghamton. Here, the College of Medicine has state-of-the-art office and classroom facilities, including 24-hour access to computers, printers and copiers; and a student lounge with kitchen facilities and recreational equipment.

The Binghamton Campus also maintains satellite offices at Wilson Memorial Hospital and Robert Packer Hospital/Guthrie Clinic.

  • Wilson Memorial Regional Medical Center (296 beds) is a teaching site for Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Neuroscience, Perinatal Medicine, and many fourth-year electives. The hospital has residency programs in Family Practice and Internal Medicine, and a Transitional Program. Wilson Memorial operates a perinatal center, the area referral center for high-risk mothers and newborns, and provides neurosurgical intensive care, coronary intensive care, cardiac surgery, pediatric intensive care, renal dialysis, and other specialized services.

  • Binghamton General (128 beds) operates a Primary Care Center in Family Care, a Sports Medicine Clinic, the New Horizons Alcoholism Treatment Program, a 24-hour Poison Control Center, Ophthalmology Surgery, and 24-hour emergency services. This facility serves as a teaching site for the Ambulatory Surgery and Alcoholism Teaching programs for the Psychiatry rotation.

  • Lourdes Hospital is a Catholic, non-profit hospital with 151 acute care beds and 10 hospice beds. It is a Regional Radiation Center for Cancer Treatment designated by the NYS Health Department and a Category II Cancer Center designated by the American College of Surgeons. Lourdes has a full range of general acute care services and a program for addressing chronic benign pain. It is a teaching site for programs in Obstetrics/Gynecology and Surgery, as well as senior electives.

  • The Guthrie Health Care System includes Robert Packer Hospital (258 beds); Guthrie Clinic, Ltd., a 250-physician group practice; two small hospitals; a nursing home; and 30 affiliated primary care clinics. Robert Packer Hospital is a tertiary care center serving 40 counties in North Central Pennsylvania and the Southern Tier of New York. It provides a full range of clinical services, including neurosurgery, cancer treatment, dialysis, and orthopedic reconstructive surgery. This hospital is a training site for Internal Medicine, General Surgery, and many senior electives.

In addition, many community agencies, physician private practices, and health care organizations provide clinical and teaching facilities for the Binghamton Campus program.
