The Syracuse VAMC, part of the VA Healthcare Network Upstate New York is a highly complex level 1C facility that provides a full range of patient care services, education, and research.  The Syracuse VAMC is a general medical and surgical facility that provides comprehensive primary, tertiary, and long-term care programs as well as specialty programs such as psychiatry, physical medicine and rehabilitation, neurology, oncology, geriatrics, spinal cord injury/disorder (SCI/D), and Home Based Primary Care (HBPC).  The Syracuse VA provides patient care services in a 13-county area of Central New York with Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC)  in Binghamton, Rome,  Auburn, Cortland/Tompkins, Massena, Oswego and Watertown. The Syracuse VA Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Service provides physical therapy services to Veterans at the Syracuse VAMC, Rome  CBOC and  at the Fort Drum Military Base via a sharing agreement/contract with the DoD.

The GS-11 Physical Therapist may  be assigned to provide professional, independent physical therapy to any/all program areas that are covered by Rehabilitation Services including acute care, acute rehabilitation, spinal cord injury/disease, long term care, home care and outpatient settings. We also provide specialty care and there is opportunity for growth/mentoring in urinary incontinence/pelvic pain, cardiac rehab, drivers rehab, assistive technology, vestibular rehab, re-walk/exo, FCE, aquatic rehab, and amputee care.
