Prerequisites: Respiratory Therapy

SUNY Upstate is an upper-division transfer college specializing in health care careers. Students applying to our bachelors programs take the prerequisite courses (minimum 60 semester hours) at another college and then complete their junior and senior years of the bachelor's degree at Upstate for their program of study.

Bachelor of Science (BS)

Requires a minimum of 60 semester hours including:

Semester Hours
Anatomy & Physiology I* with lab
Anatomy & Physiology II* with lab
General Chemistry with lab
Microbiology with lab
College Algebra or Pre-calculus or Calculus
English Composition
English Elective

Liberal Arts or Professional Electives 

(only 5 credits can be Professional Electives)

Examples of Liberal Arts & Professional Electives

* Applicants can either take Anatomy & Physiology I and II with labs or one semester of Anatomy & Physiology with lab and one semester of General Biology with lab or General Zoology with lab.

Minimum grade for transfer is a "C".

Admitted students will need to complete CPR for the Professional Rescuer or BLS for the Health Care Provider certification prior to enrollment.
