"Some perfusion schools just do academic work. Not here. We start off observing in the OR and doing academic work. Then we start doing the perfusion work. It's intense, but someone's always watching you. They won't let you do anything wrong. They don't expect you to know everything. You're supposed to ask questions." —T. Patel
Hands-on CPB For Industry
Industry reps, scientists, and administrators are often impressed with what they can learn about perfusion.
Individuals in industry who design, develop, build, service or market products for use in the operating room, particularly for use during open heart surgery, are often interested in gaining a better understanding of what goes on in the heart room.
"What do perfusionists do? How do perfusionists use this device? What is the communication like between the surgeon, anesthesiologist and perfusionist once you are on pump? Through simulation we can create a customized OR experience that answers their questions in a low stress environment.
