Clinical research is critical to understanding diseases and improving treatment therapies. Clinical research studies aspire to answer specific questions related to a particular disease process. Some research studies focus on the quality of life patients experience while others compare the effectiveness of a particular drug or device. Through the years, SUNY Upstate physicians have participated in research leading to new and improved treatments for a number of cardiac conditions.

Before entering a trial, patients are counseled on the risks and benefits of study participation. Patients give their informed consent and can withdraw from a study at any time. A person's clinical research participation status does not affect the level or quality of care they will receive.

If you are interested in participating in any of these clinical trials, please contact our Clinical Research Coordinator or speak with your Cardiologist to receive more information.
