Representatives from the New York State Library will come to the Upstate campus on Sep. 12 to demonstrate access to e-journals, Springer Protocols and other resources on their web site. The New York State Library offers outstanding online resources for the medical community, including full text of leading e-journals and databases in biomedical and life sciences. Resources cover a wide range of basic science and clinical areas with databases such as Science Direct, Biological Abstracts, Natural Medicines Comprehensive Database, and PsycArticles.Springer Protocols, a unique resource for scientists and researchers, became available in August 2008, offering more than 18,000 reproducible laboratory protocols in the Life and Biomedical Sciences. Springer Protocols are predefined written procedural methods in the design and implementation of experiments including lists of necessary equipment and ingredients, notes on troubleshooting and safety precautions. Springer Protocols is based on several critically acclaimed book series: Methods in Molecular Biology, Methods in Molecular Medicine, Methods in Biotechnology, Methods in Pharmacology & Toxicology and Neuromethods. Approx.imately 2,000 protocols will be added to this database each year.
