Full Arrest

They gave her
her own cell
when she bit the prison guard
and tried to suffocate
another inmate.

That’s why no one cared
when she complained of pain.
The nurse said she’d be fine
in the morning.
To just drink some water.

That’s how the paramedics found her.
21 years old. A heart attack and
ectopic pregnancy.

Just another DOA who had bled out
in a shitty circumstance
still handcuffed to the cell door.
